Sony becomes KADOKAWA’s largest shareholder and acquires new shares at a cost of 50 billion yen
ソニーは買収に向けて協議を進めている出版大手「KADOKAWA」の株を新たに約500億円かけて取得し、筆頭株主となることを発表しました
Sony has announced that it will spend approximately 50 billion yen to acquire the shares of the major publishing company KADOKAWA, which is currently in talks for acquisition, and will become the company’s largest shareholder.
According to Sony, it has entered into a strategic capital and business alliance agreement with KADOKAWA, and KADOKAWA will acquire 12,054,100 new shares through a third-party allotment to be held on January 7 next year.
Combined with the shares it has already acquired, Sony will become the largest shareholder of KADOKAWA, holding approximately 10% of the shares.
Through this business alliance, Sony plans to collaborate more broadly and in-depth with KADOKAWA in the games and entertainment businesses it is focusing on.
