Astronaut Koichi Wakata completes first EVA in space
Astronaut Koichi Wakata, who is staying on the International Space Station, performed his first extravehicular activity, and successfully completed his work in outer space on the 21st, Japan time.

Astronaut Koichi Wakata has been staying on the ISS (International Space Station) for about half a year since October last year, and is working on various experiments with a view to future exploration of the Moon and Mars.
Mr. Wakata performed his first spacewalk after 10:00 p.m. on the 20th Japan time.
Mr. Wakata emerged from the hatch in a space suit with a red line on his thighs with NASA = National Aeronautics and Space Administration astronauts, and carefully moved around the space station along the handrail.
Then, through trial and error using electric tools, he spent more than seven hours setting up the stand on which to mount the new solar panel.
After safely returning to the space station, Mr. Wakata smiled when his colleagues took off his helmet.
Mr. Wakata is the fifth Japanese astronaut to perform an EVA.
