沖縄県おきなわけん石垣島いしがきじまの北きた側がわにある海うみで、さんごが白しろくなっていることがわかりました

Coral turned white in the sea north of Ishigaki Island, Okinawa Prefecture.

とても暑あつくて、海うみの水みずが温あたたかくなっていることが原因げんいんだと考かんがえられています

It is very hot and is thought to be caused by warming sea water.

石垣島いしがきじまでツアーを行おこなう団体だんたいによると、7月がつの終おわりごろから白しろくなったさんごが見みつかっています

According to a tour group on Ishigaki Island, white corals have been found since the end of July.

団体だんたいが調しらべた所ところでは、さんごの80％ぐらいが白しろくなっていて、この中なかの10％ぐらいが死しんでいました

According to the group’s research, about 80% of the coral had turned white, and about 10% of them had died.

さんごは体からだの細胞さいぼうに住すむ植物しょくぶつプランクトンから栄養えいようをもらっています

Corals are nourished by phytoplankton that live in the cells of their bodies.

しかし海うみの水みずが温あたたかいと、植物しょくぶつプランクトンがいなくなって、白しろくなります

But when the sea water is warm, it loses phytoplankton and turns white.

気象台きしょうだいによると、石垣島いしがきじまや周まわりの海うみの水みずの温度おんどは、7月がつが平均へいきんで30℃で、いつもの年としより0.6℃高たかくなっています

According to the Japan Meteorological Observatory, water temperatures in Ishigaki Island and the surrounding sea averaged 30°C in July, 0.6°C higher than usual.
