中国政府は、去年12月からのおよそ1カ月で新型コロナに感染して5万9938人が死亡したと明らかにしました。　
The Chinese government revealed that 59,938 people had died from the new strain of corona virus in about a month since December last year.
国家衛生健康委員会は14日、去年12月8日から今月12日までに、新型コロナ感染後に呼吸器不全で5503人、基礎疾患との合併症で5万4435人、合わせて5万9938人が死亡したと発表しました。

感染が爆発して以降、中国政府が死者数のまとめを発表するのは初めてのことです。　
This is the first time the Chinese government has released a summary of the death toll since the outbreak. 　
死者の平均年齢は80.3歳で、65歳以上の高齢者が90％以上だということです。
The average age of the deaths was 80.3 years old, meaning more than 90% of them were over 65 years old.
12日の時点で、入院中の重症者は10万5000人、重症病床の使用率は75.3％としています。　
As of the 12th, the number of seriously ill patients in the hospital was 105,000 and the utilization rate of critical care beds was 75.3%. 　
中国政府はこれまで参考情報として連日一桁台の死者数を発表していて、実態と乖離しているなどと批判を受けていました。
