政府と東電は放射性物質「トリチウム」を含む処理水を国の基準の40分の1にあたる1リットルあたり1500ベクレルまで大幅に薄めて海に放出する方針です。　
The government and TEPCO are planning to dilute treated water containing radioactive "tritium" to 1500 becquerels per liter, 1/40 of the national standard, and discharge it into the sea.
放出にあたっては、第一原発の沖合へ放出する案と沿岸に放出する2つの案を検討してきましたが、
Regarding discharge, they considered two options, one is to discharge it offshore from the original nuclear power plant and the other is to discharge it to the coast
より処理水が拡散しやすくなる海底トンネルを掘ってパイプを通し、沖合約1キロの海底から放出する案を選択したということです。
but then they chose to dig a tunnel under the sea to make it easier for the treated water to diffuse, through a pipe, and out onto the seabed about a kilometer offshore.
9月にも海底の調査を始めるとともに、原子力規制委員会に計画案を申請します。
They will begin surveying the seabed in September and submit a draft plan to the Nuclear Regulatory Authority.
ただ、海洋への放出には地元の漁業者らが強く反発しています。
However, local fishermen strongly oppose the discharge of water into the sea.
