イエス・キリスト生誕の地とされる中東・パレスチナ自治区のベツレヘムで、毎年恒例となるクリスマスミサが執り行われました。　
ベツレヘムでは、教会前の広場に大きなツリーが設置され、ライトアップされるなどクリスマスを祝う雰囲気に包まれました。　
今年は新型コロナウイルスによる水際の制限が緩和されたため、世界各地から大勢の信者らが集まりました。　
ただ、以前はクリスマスシーズンだけでおよそ350万人が訪れていて、その数には遠く及ばないということです。　
キリストが生まれたとされる場所に立つ「聖誕教会」では25日未明、例年並みの規模でクリスマスミサが執り行われました。　
カトリック教会の総大司教は「今年はウクライナやパレスチナで多くの暴力があった。クリスマスの平和のメッセージを届けたい」と語っています。
