狐さんの誕生日。
Mr. Fox's birthday.
ハッピーバースデートゥーユー。
Happy birthday to you.
今日は月一回の森のバースデーパーティーです。
Today is the once a month birthday party in the forest.
「今月のお誕生日は誰ですか？」
"Whose birthday is it this month?"
熊さんが尋ねると、
When Mr. Bear asked,
「はーい！」
Me!
「はーい！」
Me too!
兎さんと狐さんが手を挙げました。
Mrs. Rabbit and Mr. Fox raised their hands.
「お誕生日おめでとう！」
"Happy birthday!"
森の動物達が、果物やお花をプレゼント。
The forest's animals gave fruits and flowers as presents.
「ありがとう！」
"Thank you!"
兎さんと狐さんは、とても喜びました。
Mrs. Rabbit and Mr. Fox were very delighted.
その夜、狐さんは考えました。
That night, Mr. Fox pondered.
「お誕生日は楽しいなあ。
"Birthdays are fun.
たくさんプレゼントをもらえて、みんなにお祝いしてもらえるぞ。
you get many presents, and everyone congratulates you.
よし、来月も僕のお誕生日にしよう」
All right, I will make next month my birthday too."
その次のお誕生会。
The following birthday party.
ハッピーバースデートゥーユー。
Happy birthday to you.
「今月のお誕生日は誰ですか？」
"Whose birthday is it this month?"
熊さんが尋ねます。
The bear asks.
「はーい！」
"Me!"
「はーい！」
"Me too!"
リスさんと狐さんが手を挙げました。
Mr. Squirrel and Mr. Fox raised their hands.
「お誕生日おめでとう！」
"Happy birthday!"
またまたみんなから、プレゼントをたくさんもらって、
Once again he received many presents from everyone,
狐さんは大喜びです。
so Mr. Fox is very happy.
それから狐さんは、毎月お誕生会に手を挙げて、
From that day on, Mr. Fox raised his hand every month at the birthday party,
たくさんのプレゼントをもらいました。
and received a lot of presents.
そんなある日、喉が渇いた狐さんは、池に水を飲みに行きました。
Then one day, a thirsty Mr. Fox went to the pond to drink water.
そして、水に映った自分の姿を見て、びっくりぎょうてん！
And then, seeing his own reflection in the water, he was full of astonishment!
「な、なんてことだ！」
"Oh, what is this situation!"
そこに映っていたのは、真っ白お髭のおじいさん狐でした。
There being reflected, was an old fox with a white beard.
プレゼント欲しさに欲張って、たくさんのお誕生日をしたせいで、
Greedily out of desire for gifts, and due to having done a lot of birthdays,
早く年を取っていたのです。
he was quickly getting older.
「やっぱり、お誕生日は年一回だな。」
"After all, birthdays should be once a year."
反省した狐さんは、本当の年が追いつくまで、
An ashamed Mr. Fox, until he caught up to his real age,
お誕生会は我慢したそうです。
stayed away from birthday parties.
