In California, USA, Ashley Buzzard, the mother of 9-year-old Melody Buzzard who had been missing, was arrested on October 7th on suspicion of unlawful confinement.

However, the Santa Barbara County Sheriffs Office has stated that this arrest is not directly related to Melodys disappearance.

According to a statement from the sheriffs office, it was found during the search for Ms. Melody that Ms. Ashley had prevented the victim from leaving a certain place against their will. However, this unlawful confinement charge is not directly related to the search for Ms. Melody, and details have not been disclosed due to concerns about affecting the investigation.

Authorities have revealed very little information about this incident, and they continue to keep details about the victim of the illegal confinement case confidential as the investigation proceeds.

Ashley’s arrest took place about a week after the FBI searched Melody’s home, rental storage unit, and office at the car rental company where she was last seen.

The case of Melodys disappearance attracted nationwide attention in the United States. In footage captured by a rental car companys security camera in October, she appeared wearing a straight wig that was darker than her natural hair and a hooded coat.

Authorities believe that a wig may have been used as a disguise, or that the mother may have changed wigs while traveling to avoid being identified.

Furthermore, during the three-day trip, the rental car passed through Nebraska, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, and Kansas, and in the process, was using forged or altered license plates.

After that, the car was returned to a relatives house in Lompoc, about 90 km northwest of Santa Barbara, but when Ashley returned home in the rental car on October 10th, Melody was not in the car.

The last confirmed sighting of Melody was on October 9th, captured by surveillance camera footage near the Colorado-Utah state border.

The missing person report was filed on October 14th, not by the family, but by a school staff member who found the prolonged absence suspicious.

Currently, the police are continuing their investigation and are urging anyone who knows Melodys whereabouts or has any information about sightings to contact the sheriffs office or provide information anonymously.
