According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, Japan will continue to be covered by a high-pressure system on the 24th, bringing clear skies and rising temperatures nationwide.

The daytime high temperature in Obihiro City, Hokkaido is expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius, an unprecedented and life-threatening heat.

In addition, dangerously high temperatures of 38°C are expected in cities such as Kyoto, Fukushima, Kumagaya in Saitama Prefecture, Hita in Oita Prefecture, and Kitami in Hokkaido. Extremely hot weather is also forecast, with 36°C in Osaka, Nagoya, and Hiroshima, and 35°C in central Tokyo, Fukuoka, Sendai, and Sapporo.

A heatstroke alert has been issued for the following areas due to an extremely high risk of heatstroke: the Abashiri, Kitami, and Monbetsu regions of Hokkaido, the Kushiro and Nemuro regions, the Tokachi region, Ibaraki Prefecture, Tochigi Prefecture, Gunma Prefecture, Saitama Prefecture, the 23 wards of Tokyo and the Tama area, Chiba Prefecture, Nagano Prefecture, Yamanashi Prefecture, Aichi Prefecture, Gifu Prefecture, Mie Prefecture, Niigata Prefecture, Toyama Prefecture, Ishikawa Prefecture, Fukui Prefecture, Kyoto Prefecture, Hyogo Prefecture, Wakayama Prefecture, Hiroshima Prefecture, Shimane Prefecture, Tottori Prefecture, Tokushima Prefecture, Kagawa Prefecture, Ehime Prefecture, Kochi Prefecture, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Fukuoka Prefecture, Oita Prefecture, Nagasaki Prefecture, Saga Prefecture, Kumamoto Prefecture, and all of Kagoshima Prefecture except the Amami region.

Temperatures have remained high, and not only are more people being taken to the hospital for heatstroke, but there have also been a series of cases in which elderly people and others have died on suspicion of heatstroke.

Please be extremely cautious about heatstroke. Stay in a cool environment by using air conditioning appropriately, make sure to stay hydrated and replenish salt, and take frequent breaks when working outdoors. Take thorough precautions.

On the other hand, due to rising daytime temperatures and cold air aloft, the atmosphere will become very unstable, and in the afternoon, especially in inland areas of eastern Japan, the weather may change suddenly, with a risk of localized heavy rain.
