The Constitutional Democratic Party has compiled a draft of its campaign pledges for the summer House of Councillors election.

From next April, the consumption tax rate on food will, in principle, be reduced to zero percent for one year only, and measures such as raising the minimum pension for the so-called employment ice age generation and younger are included.

This was presented at the partys policy discussion meeting.

According to this, as a measure against rising prices, the consumption tax rate on food products will be reduced to 0% in principle for one year starting next April, and will transition to a tax credit with benefits. In addition, as a temporary measure until the tax rate reduction is implemented, 20,000 yen will be provided per person, and a fundamental review of rice policy is also included.

Additionally, they are advocating for raising the pension base for the employment ice age generation and beyond, promoting gender equality to realize a society that embraces diversity, and introducing the option of separate surnames for married couples.

Regarding the tariff measures by the Trump administration in the United States, it is stated that efforts will be made to maintain and strengthen the free trade system by cooperating with other countries to increase negotiating power and urge the United States to reconsider.

In order to further restore trust in politics, it is stated that political funding will be thoroughly made transparent, and by banning corporate and organizational donations, politics that is free from distortions and truly for the people will be realized.

The Constitutional Democratic Party plans to continue discussions within the party based on the draft, and officially decide on it as a campaign pledge.
