New Years decorations serve as markers that make it easier for the gods to find your house, and they also provide a place for the gods.

For example, the pine tree at the gate is placed in front of the house so that the gods will not lose their way.

Shimenawa is displayed at entrances and on household altars to create a sacred space.

Kagami mochi is offered as a dwelling for the gods, and afterwards, the whole family eats it together.

For these reasons, it is believed that new New Years decorations should be used every year.

Reusing old things is considered disrespectful to God.
。
However, recently, many people have been using them as interior decorations as well.

If the clothes are still clean, there’s no particular problem with reusing them the following year.

What matters is each persons heart.

It’s not good to leave Tết decorations out for too long without putting them away.

Depending on the region, cleaning is usually done before January 7th or 15th.

When handling it, you can either take it to a shrine or temple to be burned, or purify it with salt yourself and wrap it in white paper before disposing of it.

If you want to reuse it, please wipe it clean, dry it, and store it in a bag or box.

In any situation, the important thing is to tidy up politely with a feeling of gratitude.
