It has been learned from interviews with relevant parties that in the case where the office of Akira Ishii, a member of the House of Councillors from the Japan Innovation Party, was searched on suspicion of falsely registering a person with no actual work record as a public secretary and fraudulently receiving the secretarys salary paid by the government, the total amount of the suspected fraudulently obtained salary is believed to be approximately 8 million yen.

The Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Offices special investigation unit suspects that Akira Ishii, a 68-year-old House of Councillors member from the Japan Innovation Party, fraudulently obtained salaries paid by the government for his official secretaries. On the 27th, they searched his office in the House of Councillors members building in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, as well as his local office and home in Toride City, Ibaraki Prefecture, on suspicion of fraud. They are continuing to search related locations on the 28th.
