Due to track construction near Tamachi Station, the JR Yamanote Line and Keihin-Tohoku Line will be suspended on some sections from the 19th until around noon on the 20th.

JR plans to provide alternative transportation to subways and private railways.

JR East will conduct track work near Tamachi Station this weekend to develop the Haneda Airport Access Line.

As a result, some sections of the Yamanote Line and the Keihin-Tohoku Line, including Tamachi Station, will be suspended for two days from the first train on the 19th until around noon on the 20th.

On the 19th, the Yamanote Lines outer loop between Ueno, Tokyo, and Osaki, as well as the Keihin-Tohoku Line between Higashi-Jujo and Shinagawa for trains going to Omiya and Ofuna, will be out of service all day.

In addition, the Yamanote Lines inner loop from Osaki to Tokyo to Ueno will be suspended from the first train until around 5 a.m.

On the 20th, both the outer and inner loops of the Yamanote Line between Ueno, Tokyo, and Osaki, as well as the Keihin-Tohoku Line between Higashi-Jujo and Shinagawa for trains bound for Omiya and Ofuna, will be suspended from the first train until around noon.

In addition, on the 19th and 20th, there will be reduced services on other sections of the Yamanote Line and the Keihin-Tohoku Line depending on the time of day.

In response, JR plans to increase the number of trains on the Ueno-Tokyo Line as an alternative route, and arrange for substitute transportation on 15 other railways including Tokyo Metro, Toei Subway, Yokohama Municipal Subway, and other private railways.

JR East has established a dedicated phone line for customer inquiries regarding service suspensions and train schedules.

The Haneda Airport Access Line, planned by JR East, is a new line that will connect Haneda Airport with central Tokyo and other areas via three routes.

Amidst the expanding inbound demand, plans were made to enhance transportation capacity and improve access between the metropolitan area and airports.

This route consists of the East Yamanote Route connecting the airport via Tokyo Station with the Utsunomiya Line, Takasaki Line, and Joban Line, the West Yamanote Route connecting Shinjuku and Ikebukuro with the airport, and the Rinkai Area Route connecting Shin-Kiba Station in Koto Ward, Tokyo, with the airport via the Rinkai Line.

Construction starting on the 19th is on the Higashiyamate route. This Higashiyamate route will connect Tokyo Station to Haneda Airport in approximately 18 minutes without the need for transfers, compared to the current approximately 30 minutes with a transfer.

The Higashiyamate Route began construction in June the year before last, and plans to renovate and utilize existing facilities and freight train tracks at the Tokyo Freight Terminal Station in Shinagawa Ward. Additionally, a new Access New Line section of approximately 5 kilometers from the freight terminal station to the airport and a new Haneda Airport New Station near the airport are planned for construction, aiming for an opening in fiscal year 2031.

The construction on the 19th: The work to be carried out over two days starting on the 19th involves simultaneously relocating the outer loop of the Yamanote Line and the tracks for the Keihin-Tohoku Line heading towards Ofuna to the west near Tamachi Station, in order to secure space for the access line development.

Access to Haneda Airport from the city center is being improved with Tokyu Corporations plan to establish a new Shin-Kuko Line covering approximately 800 meters between Kamata Station on the Tokyu Tamagawa Line and near Keikyu Kamata Station. This business concept was approved by the government this month, aiming to enhance access to the airport from Shibuya and along the Tokyu railway lines.
