Court ”Pay 13 trillion yen for former TEPCO chairmen”
The 2011 tsunami caused an accident at TEPCO’s nuclear power plant in Fukushima Prefecture.
TEPCO will pay a lot of money, such as the money to destroy the nuclear reactor and the money to pay to those who evacuated to other towns.
Those who own TEPCO’s stock have appealed to the court, saying, ”Former chairmen and former presidents should pay TEPCO 22 trillion yen and take responsibility.”
On the 13th, the Tokyo District Court said, ”The four former chairmen should pay TEPCO about 13 trillion yen in total.”
Before the accident, the government and others had produced the results of research that ”if there is a big earthquake, a tsunami with a height of 15 m or more may come”.
The former presidents were responsible for taking steps to prevent accidents, but they didn’t. ”
