Costco sues the American government and request the repayment of tariffs
The American superstore, Costco, sued the American government about the tariffs made before Trump’s presidency
President Trump used a special law in order to add high tariffs to products from other countries.
However, now it is being discussed at the American supreme courts on whether the president really has the authority to add tariffs.
Costco says, “if the Supreme court decides that these tariffs are a mistake, then we want to have paid money properly returned to us.”
Other companies are doing the same in suing the American government.
Formerly president Trump says, “The tariffs are important for America.” That he hopes the decision of the supreme court will be a good result.
The governmet is concerned that if the money is returned to the companies, then American economy will be affected greatly.
