Japanese companies are going to court over the high American tariffs
Before the presidency of Trump, many countries have applied high tariffs to Japanese manufactured goods
9 large Japanese companies are going to court with the American government over whether these high tariffs are justified or not.
For example, companies like Toyota, Sumotomo, Riko, Ushio and Yokohama to name a few.
If the American courts decide that these tariffs are unconstitutional then these companies are thinking that the tariffs paid should be returned immediately.
In reality, the lower courts have said that “because the American congress doesn’t have the authority to do it, these tariffs are unconstitutional.”
Now, this issue is being discussed at the American supreme court and is likely to reach a result within this year.
