アップルとグーグルがほぼ独占するスマホのアプリストアなどについて、公正取引委員会が「規制を強化するために法整備が必要」とする調査報告書を公表しました。　
The Fair Trade Commission has released an investigation report stating that "legislation is needed to strengthen regulation" of smartphone app stores and other services that are almost exclusively owned by Apple and Google.
報告書ではスマホアプリの販売はアップルとグーグルが運営するアプリストアなどで販売せざるを得ない仕組みになっていて、アプリ提供者は、負担する利用手数料の割高な水準に「不満は根強い」としています。　
The report states that smartphone apps are forced to be sold through app stores operated by Apple and Google, and app providers are "deeply dissatisfied" with the relatively high level of usage fees they bear.
アップルとグーグルはアプリストアのランキングで自社のアプリを上位に表示して有利に扱ったり、
the report indicated that Apple and Google "may impose adverse agreements" by showing their apps higher in app store rankings and giving preferential treatment,
基本ソフト・OSを頻繁にアップデートしてアプリ提供者に多大なコストを発生させたりするなど、「不利な取引を押し付ける恐れがある」と指摘しました。　
at the same time, frequent software and underlying operating system updates caused significant costs for application vendors.
公正取引委員会は、アプリストアとその周辺の市場では「十分な競争ができていない」として「規制を強化するための法整備が必要」と結論付けました。
The Japan Fair Trade Commission concluded that ``there is not enough competition'' in the app store and surrounding markets, and that ``laws are needed to strengthen regulations''
