大阪教育大学付属池田小学校で8人の児童が殺害された事件から23年となる今日、追悼集会が開かれました。　
A memorial ceremony was held today to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the murder of eight children at Osaka Kyoiku University's Ikeda Elementary School.
付属池田小学校では児童や遺族らおよそ700人が集まり、犠牲になった児童の名前が刻まれた塔の前で黙祷しました。　
About 700 children and bereaved families gathered at the affiliated Ikeda Elementary School and prayed silently before the tower engraved with the names of the deceased children.
23年前の今日、刃物を持った男が校内に侵入し児童らを襲い、児童8人が死亡、15人が重軽傷を負いました。　
On this day 23 years ago, a man with a knife burst into a school and attacked children, killing 8 children and seriously injuring 15 others.
真田巧校長は集会で改めて学校の安全を誓いました。

学校では「安全科」という授業を導入し、児童は事件を伝え続けていくことの大切さを再確認しました。
The school introduced a class called “Safety Studies” and the children reaffirmed the importance of keeping the incident informed.
