ハワイを訪れている木原防衛大臣はフィリピンのテオドロ国防大臣と会談し、自衛隊とフィリピン軍が共同訓練などを円滑に行う協定の早期締結に向けて連携することで一致しました。
Defense Secretary Kihara, who is visiting Hawaii, met with Philippine Defense Secretary Teodoro and agreed to cooperate to soon reach an agreement to facilitate joint training between the Self-Defense Forces and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

会談では海洋進出を強める中国を念頭に南シナ海を巡る情勢について協議し、「自由で開かれたインド太平洋」の重要性を確認しました。　
At the meeting, the two sides discussed the situation surrounding the East Sea, noted China's increasing expansion in the sea and affirmed the importance of a "free and open Indo-Pacific".
また、自衛隊とフィリピン軍が共同訓練などを実施しやすくするRAA＝円滑化協定の締結に向けて交渉を加速させることで一致しました。　
Additionally, they agreed to accelerate negotiations towards the signing of the RAA (Facilitation Agreement), which will make it easier for the Self-Defense Forces and the Armed Forces of the Philippines to conduct joint training, etc.
