天皇陛下は、水と災害に関するシンポジウムに出席し、専門家の講演を聴講されました。　
The Emperor attended a symposium on water and disasters and listened to lectures by experts. 　
天皇陛下は18日午前9時すぎ、東京・港区の政策研究大学院大学を訪れ、関係者の出迎えを受けられました。　
Just after 9 a.m. on the 18th, the emperor visited the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies in Minato Ward, Tokyo, where he was greeted by officials.
陛下が出席した水問題に関する世界の専門家によるシンポジウムは、気候変動や洪水など国際的な課題の解決に向けた議論をして、発信していくことを目的としています。　
The symposium of world experts on water issues, which the Emperor attended, aims to discuss and disseminate solutions to international issues such as climate change and flooding. 　
シンポジウムはすべて英語で行われ、陛下は、音声翻訳機を使用せずに国連総会のチャバ・コロシ議長らによる講演を聴講されました。　
The symposium was conducted entirely in English and the Emperor listened to speeches by United Nations General Assembly President Chava Kolosi and others without the use of interpreters.
その後、陛下は、講演を行った関係者らと通訳を介さず懇談し、英語で「きょうの講演は興味深かったし、これからの研究にとてもためになった」と話されたということです。
The Emperor then spoke to the participants of the presentation without using an interpreter, and said in English, "Today's lecture was very interesting and very useful for my future research."
