昔、兵庫の小野という村に一人のおばあさんが住んでいました。
Once upon a time, in a village called Ono in Hyogo Prefecture, there lived an old woman who lived alone.

There is a small stream near my house, and on the other side of the stream stands an old Jizo statue.

Every day, the old woman crossed the stream to visit and pray to the Jizo statue.

The Jizo statue is her precious friend of the heart.

One day, the old woman’s back started to hurt and she couldn’t move anymore.

She can only cook rice and cannot go to see the Jizo.

A few days later, feeling a bit better, she walked with a cane to the Jizo statue.

Weeds are growing thickly around the Jizo statue.

The old woman is pulling weeds while enduring back pain.

When I finished work, it was already evening.

When she tried to go home, she couldnt cross the river because of her back pain.

When I was in trouble, I heard a voice from behind saying, Let me help you cross the river.

Looking back, the old woman saw the statue of Jizo walk over and lie across the stream like a bridge.

The old woman said, I cant step on you. But the Jizo statue replied, Ive been standing for a long time, so my back hurts. Please step on my back.

The old woman took off her sandals and quietly climbed onto the Jizo statues back.

Strangely enough, the old womans back pain disappeared completely.

Since then, she started visiting the statue of Jizo every day.

This story spread throughout the village, and more and more people from afar began to visit the Jizo statue.
