行いました。
At the coast of the Miura Peninsula in Kanagawa Prefecture, where illegal harvesting of turban shells and other marine products has been occurring one after another, the Japan Coast Guard and other authorities conducted a demonstration experiment using drones equipped with AI for enforcement.

検挙は

61人、
押収された
海産物の
量は
100キロを
超えるということです。
On the coast of the Miura Peninsula in Kanagawa Prefecture, there have been repeated incidents of illegal harvesting of turban shells, abalone, octopus, and other marine products by leisure visitors. According to the Yokosuka Coast Guard, a total of 61 people were apprehended last year, and the amount of confiscated marine products exceeded 100 kilograms.

密漁者とみられる
人物を
自動で
検知する
システムの
開発を
進めてきました。
In response to this situation and to help with efficient enforcement, Kanto Gakuin University has been developing a system that automatically detects individuals suspected of being poachers using AI.

30日、
海上保安部なども
参加して
神奈川県横須賀市の
海岸で
実証実験が
行われました。
On the 30th, after the completion of this AI- and camera-equipped drone, a demonstration experiment was conducted on the coast of Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, with the participation of the Maritime Safety Department and others.

In the experiment, when a person holding a net on the beach was filmed by a drone in the air, the screen showed a blue outline indicating that the AI had recognized the person.

問題はみられなかったということで、
大学などは
今後の
実用化も
視野に
精度の
向上を
目指すことにしています。
In the 30-day experiment, there were no major issues observed with identification by AI, so universities and other institutions are now aiming to improve accuracy with a view toward practical implementation in the future.

Mr. Yuichiro Kubo, head of the Security and Rescue Division at the Yokosuka Maritime Security Department, said, It takes time and effort to walk along the rough coastline to find poachers, so I think its very good that we can strengthen our monitoring system by using drones and AI.
