ロイター通信や中国国営の新華社通信は、14日、スペインの首都マドリードでアメリカと中国の貿易協議が始まったと伝えました。
Reuters and Chinas state-run Xinhua News Agency reported on the 14th that trade talks between the United States and China have begun in Madrid, the capital of Spain.
アメリカと中国は、互いに追加関税を引き下げた上で、一部の関税をことし11月まで停止して貿易協議を進めていて、今回の協議には、アメリカのベッセント財務長官と中国で経済政策を統括する何立峰副首相が参加しています。
The United States and China are moving forward with trade negotiations after mutually lowering additional tariffs and suspending some tariffs until November this year. Participating in these talks are U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, who oversees economic policy.
ロイター通信はアメリカ政府当局者の話として、初日の協議では、関税措置や経済に加え、中国系の動画共有アプリ「TikTok」の問題について議論が集中したと伝えています。
Reuters reports, citing U.S. government officials, that on the first day of talks, discussions focused on tariff measures, the economy, and issues surrounding the Chinese video-sharing app TikTok.
アメリカ側は、9月17日を期限として「TikTok」のアメリカ事業の売却を求めていて、中国側に対応を迫ったものとみられます。
The American side has set a deadline of September 17th for the sale of TikTok’s U.S. operations, and it appears that they are pressuring the Chinese side to respond.
また協議に先立ち、ベッセント長官はG7＝主要7か国の財務相・中央銀行総裁会議で、各国に対し、ロシアから原油を購入している中国を含む国々への関税を引き上げるよう要請していて、中国によるロシア産原油の購入について議論が行われるかも焦点です。
Before the talks, Secretary Bessent requested at the G7 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting that member countries raise tariffs on nations, including China, that are purchasing crude oil from Russia. Whether the purchase of Russian crude oil by China will be discussed is also a key point.
協議は15日も続けられるということです。
The talks are expected to continue on the 15th as well.
