ABU総会そうかいモンゴルで開催かいさい　文化ぶんか伝統でんとう守まもるためのメディアの役割やくわり議論ぎろん

The General Assembly of the ABU Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, which includes broadcasters from the Asia-Pacific region, has begun in Mongolia, where discussions are being held on topics such as the role of media in preserving culture and traditions.

In conjunction with the general meeting, the ABU Awards—which are given to outstanding programs—were announced, and three NHK programs, including the special audio drama Utsukushii Kutsu Beautiful Shoes, received awards.

ABU is an organization composed of 226 broadcasting organizations from 66 countries and regions, mainly in the Asia-Pacific region, promoting cooperation in program production and broadcasting technology.

The annual general meeting of ABU began on the 14th in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, where discussions are being held on the theme The Role of Media: Preserving Culture and Tradition.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Tatsuhiko Inoue, Vice President of NHK, delivered a speech on behalf of ABU, saying, Currently, the internet is flooded with false information, misinformation, and information manipulation.

In such an online space, we, as public media, are able to provide reliable and accurate information.

I believe there has never been a time when our presence has been more needed than now.

In conjunction with the general meeting, an awards ceremony for the ABU Prizes, which are given to outstanding television and radio programs, was also held. Out of 318 entries, three NHK programs were selected as winners.

Of these, the ABU Award, which is the highest honor in the Radio/Audio Drama category, was given to the special audio drama Utsukushii Kutsu Beautiful Shoes, which revisited the question of what is authentic through the story of a pair of phantom sneakers.

In addition, the Jury Special Award in the Television/Screen category was given to NHK Special Hidden Kingdom of Bhutan: Soaring Through the Skies, and the Encouragement Award in the Radio/Audio Personality category was given to Everyones Stay-at-Home Radio.
