3年前、2022年の6月29日、別府市の交差点で大学生2人が車にはねられ、このうち当時19歳の大学生が死亡した事件では、八田與一容疑者（28）が全国の警察を挙げて捜査する「重要指名手配」に、ひき逃げの容疑者としては初めて指定されました。
Three years ago, on June 29, 2022, two university students were hit by a car at an intersection in Beppu City, and one of them, a 19-year-old student at the time, died. In this case, Yoichi Hatta 28 became the first hit-and-run suspect to be designated as a most wanted by police nationwide.
警察は車の走行実験などの捜査を進めた結果、容疑者が殺意をもって車を衝突させたとして、6月2日に殺人と殺人未遂の疑いでも逮捕状を取りました。
As a result of their investigation, including test drives of the car, the police obtained an arrest warrant on June 2 on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, believing that the suspect intentionally crashed the car with the intent to kill.
事件の発生から3年となる29日、警察は大分だけではなく、東京、大阪、愛知などでも容疑者の顔写真などが載ったチラシを配って情報の提供を呼びかけました。
On the 29th, which marks three years since the incident, the police distributed flyers with the suspect’s photo not only in Oita, but also in Tokyo, Osaka, Aichi, and other locations, calling for information from the public.
このうち別府市の中心部では、警察官や遺族の支援団体のメンバーが一人ひとりに声をかけて、捜査への協力を求めていました。
In the center of Beppu City, police officers and members of a support group for the bereaved were approaching people one by one, asking for their cooperation with the investigation.
別府警察署の藤本努刑事課長は「1日でも早く容疑者を発見するため、ささいな内容でもかまわないので情報提供をお願いしたい」と話していました。
Beppu Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division Chief Tsutomu Fujimoto said, “In order to find the suspect as soon as possible, we ask for any information, no matter how trivial.”
愛知県内では午前中、名古屋駅前で大分県警と愛知県警の警察官が、容疑者の顔写真などが載ったチラシを配りました。
In the morning in Aichi Prefecture, police officers from the Oita and Aichi prefectural police distributed flyers with the suspects photo and other information in front of Nagoya Station.
チラシを受け取った女子大学生は「私たちと同じように生活をしているのがこわいです。

話していました。
