According to the American science magazine Forbes, former xAI researcher Eric Zelikman is working to raise $1 billion about 154.1 billion yen to establish a new startup called Humans&;.

This company is negotiating at a valuation of 5 billion US dollars approximately 770.4 billion yen, and the goal set by Zelikman is expected to have a significant social impact.

Among the co-founders are Georges Harik, one of Google’s first employees, as well as researchers who have worked at Meta, Anthropic, OpenAI, and DeepMind.

The vision for the future that these members are building is one where AI does not replace humans, but rather empowers them.

Currently, it is still unclear what kind of products Humans& will develop, but the company has told investors that it is adopting a new learning method that can remember and respond to individual preferences and interests. This indicates a different direction from conventional AI, which aims to replace humans.

This point indicates that the company aims to develop AI to support humans.

Zelikman made the following statement on investor Sarah Guos podcast No Priors.

Personally, I believe that many of humanitys fundamental problems can be solved by cooperating more effectively with others, understanding each persons goals and values, recognizing individual weaknesses, and learning how to harmonize with the group so that everyone can become more effective.

This statement indicates that Zelikman values cooperation and teamwork within the group.

To build a powerful system, enormous capital and computing resources are required, and fewer and fewer startups are attempting to take on this challenge.

Therefore, developing applications based on advanced models such as GPT-5, Claude Opus 4.1, and Grok 4 has become the mainstream trend nowadays.

If Humans& succeeds in raising funds, it will undoubtedly stand alongside other research organizations such as Thinking Machine Labs and Safe Superintelligence, which secured massive funding even before announcing any products.

New Value and Future of AI On his personal website, Zelikman writes: “If we invest everything in autonomy and nothing in cooperation, the future will only have IQ intelligence quotient and no EQ emotional intelligence quotient. And that will make it a colder place.”

This statement emphasizes that, in the development of AI, not only intelligence but also human-like emotional intelligence and cooperativeness are essential.
