McDonald's uses new lids without straws
McDonald's in Japan introduces new lids for beverage cups
Until now, the lid had a hole for inserting a straw, and I used a paper straw to drink from.
The new lid allows you to drink without using a straw.
The new lid is made from plastic made from used plastic bottles.
It took about 3 years to make this to prevent drinks from leaking or spilling.
McDonald's in Japan tries to use as little plastic as possible.
Starting in 2022, we are thinking of changing containers and other items so that we can avoid using about 6,600 tons of new plastic in one year.
