The story of the Wakukuri Rock
A long time ago, an old lady lived alone at Mita Pass in Hiroshima Prefecture.
The grandmother made cloth on the machine every day.
One hot summer day, a monk travelling said, "Give me some water."
The grandmother kindly drank the cold river and gave it to the monk.
The monk was moved by the grandmother's kindness and said, "The thread will come out of this tube forever
But never doubt it," he said, leaving.
Also, even when the old lady used the thread, the thread didn't go away.
When the villager heard this story, he asked me, "Please make my kimono with this thread."
The grandma worked hard to make the fabric every day.
On New Year's Eve, the kimono was almost ready, and the old lady thought, "I wonder what's going on inside this tube," so she looked at and touched the tube.
But there was nothing
After that, the thread suddenly stopped coming out
The grandmother began making thread outside in the snow using clasp.
When the village headmaster came in the morning, the grandmother had died on a large rock with her arms on it.
Then every year on New Year's Eve, I can hear the sound of thuds coming from the rock.
The village girls called the rock "wakukuri rock" and began making threads on the rocks, hoping they would be good at weaving.
