Ricoh solicits voluntary retirement for approximately 2,000 people, expects contraction of multifunction device market
Ricoh, a major precision equipment company, has announced that it will be recruiting approximately 2,000 people for voluntary retirement in Japan and overseas by March next year.
As paperless society progresses and demand for multifunction devices decreases, the company says this is part of its business restructuring to focus on digital-related businesses.

According to an announcement, Ricoh will seek voluntary retirement from approximately 2,000 domestic and overseas employees by March next year.
This represents over 2% of our domestic and overseas employees.
In Japan, the company plans to solicit voluntary retirement from around 1,000 people between the 1st of next month and the end of February next year.
As demand in the multifunction device market is shrinking due to the shift to paperless technology, the company plans to focus on businesses related to DX (digital transformation), and the recruitment of retirees is part of its business restructuring.
In July of this year, Ricoh established a joint venture with Toshiba Tec in order to improve the efficiency of development and production of multifunction devices.
Konica Minolta, a major precision equipment manufacturer that handles multifunction devices, has announced that it will cut approximately 2,400 jobs domestically and overseas by the end of March next year, and will jointly procure parts and other items with Fujifilm Holdings. Efforts to reduce personnel and restructure the business are progressing, including preparations for the establishment of a joint venture company.
