21日から始まった「秋の全国交通安全運動」に合わせ、東京・世田谷区では横断歩道を渡る人に交通ルールを守るよう呼び掛けました。　
In conjunction with the “Autumn National Traffic Safety Campaign” that began on the 21st, Tokyo's Setagaya Ward urged residents crossing pedestrian crossings to obey traffic rules.
世田谷区の東急線二子玉川駅前の交差点では、警察官が交通整理を行い、横断歩道を渡る歩行者にビラを配るなどして交通ルールの順守を呼び掛けました。　
At the intersection in front of Futakotamagawa Station on the Tokyu Line in Setagaya Ward, police officers were controlling traffic and handing out leaflets to pedestrians crossing the crosswalk, urging them to obey traffic rules.
イヤホンをしながら自転車に乗る人に対しては、警告のための「自転車指導警告カード」が交付されました。　
Anyone riding a bicycle wearing headphones is issued a “Cycling instructional warning card.”
警視庁によりますと、今年1月から8月末までにおよそ2万件の交通事故があり、去年と比べて700件近く増えています。　
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, from January to the end of August this year, there were about 20,000 traffic accidents, an increase of nearly 700 cases compared to last year.
歩行者が巻き込まれる事故はおととしから3年連続で増加していて、警視庁は、歩行者にも横断歩道を渡る際などは安全確認を徹底してほしいと呼び掛けています。
The number of accidents involving pedestrians has increased for three consecutive years since 2010 and the Metropolitan Police Department are urging pedestrians to thoroughly check their safety before crossing crosswalks.
