自転車のヘルメット着用が努力義務になってから半年が経つのに合わせ、警視庁が14日、女子中学生とともにヘルメット着用を呼び掛けました。

警視庁によりますと、都内で9月末までに自転車が関連した事故での死者は22人で、去年より1人増えています。　
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, 22 people died in bicycle-related accidents in Tokyo as of the end of September, an increase of 1 person compared to last year.
ヘルメットをしない場合は致死率が2.3倍高くなるということです。　
The death rate is 2.3 times higher if a helmet is not worn.
都内では着用率が1割程度ですが、女性はおよそ6％にとどまっています。　
In Tokyo, the helmet wearing rate is about 10% but only about 6% of women wear helmets.
イベントでは、ヘルメットを脱いだ後に髪を整えられるようにヘアブラシが配られました。

警視庁は「ヘルメットをかぶり、安全な自転車利用に努めてほしい」としています。
