富士山を登山中に噴火があった場合、どのように命を守るべきかについて考えるシンポジウムが昨日、山梨県で開かれました。　
A symposium was held in Yamanashi Prefecture yesterday to discuss how to save lives if there is an eruption while climbing Mount Fuji.
「富士山の場合はマグマ噴火。山小屋は木造建築。そうすると燃えますよね。コンクリートで覆う山小屋を造るのが富士山の噴火対策に一番適しているのか」　
"In the case of Mt. Fuji there is a magma eruption. A mountain lodge is a wooden structure. It will then catch on fire. Is building a concrete mountain lodge the most appropriate measure during an eruption on Mount Fuji?"
「山小屋をシェルター化するのは一つだが、逃げ込んだら安全かというと、逆に危険な場合もある」　
"The only way is to turn the mountain into a shelter, and running away can be dangerous."
富士山は年間数十万人が山頂を目指す活火山で、58人が死亡した2014年の御嶽山噴火以降、富士山でも噴火から登山者を守る対策が急務となっています。　
Mount Fuji is an active volcano where hundreds of thousands of people aim for the summit each year, and since the 2014 eruption of Mount Ontake that killed 58 people, there is an urgent need to protect climbers from the eruption.
シンポジウムでは、ゼロリスクは不可能としたうえで、登山者への教育も含めた安全対策を講じるべきだと議論されました。
At the symposium, it was suggested that zero risk was not possible, and that safety measures should be taken, including education for climbers.
