国連人口基金は19日、今年の半ばまでに世界の総人口が80億4500万人に達するとの報告書を発表しました。
国別ではインドが最も多くて14億2860万人、中国は14億2570万人となっていて、年内にインドが中国を290万人上回り、世界一となる見通しが示されています。
インドメディアは「国連が人口の統計データを発表するようになって以降、中国を超えたのは初めてだ」などと報じています。
今回、発表された中国の人口には約750万人の人口を有する香港のほか、台湾やマカオの人口は含まれていません。
