こちらが駿河湾の水深約1500メートルで見つかったクサウオ科の新種「スルガノオニビ」です。
丸みを帯びた頭部と細長い尾の部分、さらに青白い色などが日本の怪談に登場する火の玉「鬼火」に似ていることから命名されました。
スルガノオニビを発見したのは東海大学海洋学部の研究グループで、専門誌のオンライン版で報告したということです。
