ドラッグストア最大手の「ウエルシアホールディングス」は、2026年2月までにすべての店舗でたばこの販売を終了すると発表しました。　
ウエルシアホールディングスでは現在、全体の7割にあたる約2000店舗でたばこを販売していますが、2026年2月末までに順次、終了します。　
すでに今月以降オープンした店舗では、たばこを置いていないということです。　
たばこは単価が高く、「ついで買い」などが期待できる商品としてコンビニやスーパーなどで広く販売されていて、ウエルシアグループでも売り上げの1.5％ほどを占めています。　
ウエルシアはたばこの販売を終了する理由について、「健康な暮らしを提供する」という企業理念に反するためとしています。　
今回の判断が他の小売りチェーンにも広がる可能性があります。
