陸に住むネズミがカエルと仲良しになりましたがこれが運のつきでした
Mouse and frog were good friends, but there came a serious life-and-death accident
というのもカエルには悪巧みがあったからです
because the frog harmed its friend
カエルはネズミの足と自分の足をひもで結び付けました
The frog tied the mouse's leg to its own leg
そうして初めは仲良く一緒に畑の麦を食べに行きました

それから沼の岸に近づきました
Then they went to the shore of the swamp
沼まで来るとカエルはネズミを水の底に引きずり込んで
When they reached the swamp, the frog pulled the mouse into the swamp
「ケロ、ケロ、ケ、ケ、ケ」
"Kello, Kello, Ke, Ke, Ke"
と歓声を上げながら水浴びをしました

可愛そうなネズミは、さんざん水を飲んでおぼれ死んでしまいました

でも、足がカエルの足に結びつけられているので

それを１羽のトンビが見つけて、このネズミをさらっていきました
