Prime Minister Ishiba, who has expressed his intention to remain in office, plans to carefully listen to opinions within the party at the LDP’s General Assembly of Both Houses of Diet Members to be held early next week, hoping to use this as an opportunity to gain understanding for his administration.

On the 25th, within the Liberal Democratic Party, the Youth Division consisting of younger lawmakers handed a letter to Secretary-General Moriyama, effectively demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Ishiba and other party executives, insisting that responsibility for the election defeat must be clarified.

Youth Bureau Chief Nakasone said, After reviewing and assessing the election, I want him to take responsibility by making his own decision as soon as possible.

Furthermore, mid-career and younger lawmakers from the former Motegi faction, former Abe faction, and Aso faction are collecting signatures to call for a joint plenary meeting of both houses in order to hold those responsible accountable through the partys official decision-making body.

They say that signatures from one-third of the Diet members required to request the meeting have been collected by the 25th, and they are indicating that they will decide whether to submit them to the party based on the content of the joint meeting of both houses members at the beginning of the week.

Furthermore, mid-level and younger lawmakers are continuing efforts to increase pressure for resignation, such as by collecting signatures while keeping in mind the need to secure the support of a majority of both Diet members and prefectural chapter representatives required to move up the party leadership election.
