Prime Minister Ishiba responded to an exclusive interview with NHK and expressed his intention to steadily implement the agreement reached in the Japan-U.S. negotiations regarding U.S. tariff measures.

He stated, Without any selfish motives, I will devote myself completely for the future of the country, and emphasized that he will continue to tackle policy issues and fulfill his responsibilities.

In this context, Prime Minister Ishiba, regarding the agreement in the Japan-U.S. negotiations over U.S. tariff measures, stated, There are as many as 4,318 items being exported to the United States, and we must ensure that small and medium-sized enterprises and individual business owners do not feel anxious.

He stated, The implementation starts now, and we must take responsibility, expressing his intention to ensure the agreement is carried out and to make every effort to support domestic industries.

On top of that, regarding the backlash within the Liberal Democratic Party against his intention to continue in office, he said, The most important thing is the national interest.

If I think about myself, there are various judgments I could make, but as the top official of the administration, I must restrain my personal feelings, he said.

And I believe that the way to take responsibility is to properly resolve the issue of tariffs and ensure Japan’s survival and prosperity.

Its different from wanting to cling on or keep going no matter what.

On the other hand, regarding measures against rising prices, he pointed out, During the House of Councillors election, there was debate over whether to provide benefits or tax cuts, and what would happen to social security, but there was hardly any real discussion.

On top of that, when asked whether there is a possibility of considering a consumption tax cut as the opposition parties are demanding, he said, If you say, Even if we reduce the consumption tax, social security and national finances will be fine, then Id like you to present your opinions.

It depends on how discussions based on shared understanding and figures will bear fruit, he said, expressing his intention to hold talks with the opposition parties.
