According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, on the 29th, the area around Honshu will continue to be covered by a high-pressure system, and it is expected to be sunny over a wide area with rising temperatures.

The daytime high temperatures are expected to reach a dangerous level: 39°C in Yamagata, Kofu, Gifu, Kyoto, and Saga; 38°C in Fukushima, Maebashi, Osaka, and Fukuoka; 37°C in Morioka, Saitama, Nagoya, and Takamatsu; and 36°C in central Tokyo, with extreme heat expected in various areas.

A heatstroke alert has been issued for a total of 37 prefectures, as the risk of heatstroke is expected to become extremely high. These areas include Miyagi, Yamagata, Fukushima, Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Saitama, the 23 wards and Tama area of Tokyo, Nagano, Yamanashi, Shizuoka, Aichi, Gifu, Mie, Niigata, Toyama, Ishikawa, Shiga, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo, Nara, Wakayama, Okayama, Hiroshima, Shimane, Tottori, Tokushima, Kochi, Yamaguchi, Fukuoka, Oita, Nagasaki, Saga, Kumamoto, Kagoshima Prefecture excluding the Amami region, and the Yaeyama region of Okinawa.

Due to the consecutive days of extreme heat, more people are being taken to the hospital for heatstroke, and there have also been a series of deaths.

On the other hand, due to rising temperatures and other factors, the atmosphere is expected to become unstable mainly in the inland areas of eastern Japan in the afternoon, with the possibility of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms in some localized areas.

Please be very careful of flooding in low-lying areas, landslides, and rising river levels, and also be aware of lightning, sudden gusts of wind, and hail.
