The two-day trade talks between senior officials from the United States and China have ended.

One of the focal points was the suspension deadline for the additional 24% tariffs. China revealed that it had agreed to an extension, while the U.S. side indicated that President Trump would make the final decision.

Trade talks between the United States and China were held over two days until the 29th in Stockholm, Sweden. After the talks, Vice Minister Li Chenggang, who serves as the representative for trade negotiations at Chinas Ministry of Commerce, announced that both sides had agreed to extend the deadline for suspending the additional 24% tariffs, which had been set for the 12th of next month.

Bessent, the Finance Minister, indicated that if an extension were to be made, it would normally be for 90 days.

Secretary Bessent was asked by reporters what message he sent to China, the largest purchaser, regarding President Trumps policy of imposing secondary tariffs on countries that continue to buy Russian oil. He stated, Countries purchasing sanctioned Russian oil should prepare for these tariffs, indicating that China could be subject to these tariffs.

President Trump: I heard that good talks were held. On the 29th, President Trump of the United States responded to reporters questions on the plane returning from Scotland to Washington.
