伊東市の田久保市長は7月7日に、速やかに辞職し、市長選挙に改めて立候補する考えを示していましたが、7月31日に、辞職の意向を撤回し、市長の職にとどまる考えを明らかにしました。
Mayor Takubo of Ito City had indicated on July 7 that he would promptly resign and run again in the mayoral election, but on July 31, he announced that he was withdrawing his intention to resign and would remain in office as mayor.
これを受けて市議会は、市政の停滞や混乱が起きているとして、4日午前、議長と副議長、それに5つの会派の代表が今後の対応について話し合いました。

終了後、報道陣の取材に応じた中島弘道議長は、田久保市長に対する不信任決議案を提出する方針で、各会派が一致したと明らかにしました。

提出の時期については、9月に開かれる定例市議会を待たずに、8月中にも臨時の議会を開きたいという考えを示しました。
