Former Soviet republics Azerbaijan and Armenia have announced plans to develop a corridor called the Trump Route with U.S. mediation. In response, Iran, which borders both countries, has expressed concern about the potential negative effects of foreign intervention.

係争地をめぐり長年対立してきたアゼルバイジャンとアルメニア両国の首脳は8日、アメリカのトランプ大統領の立ち会いのもと、和平実現に向けた共同宣言に署名しました。
The leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, who have been in conflict for many years over disputed territories, signed a joint declaration aimed at achieving peace on the 8th, with U.S. President Trump present.
この中には、アルメニア領をはさんで分断されているアゼルバイジャンの領土を、「トランプ・ルート」と呼ぶ東西の回廊を整備してつなぐ計画も盛り込まれ、トランプ大統領は「世界に平和と安定をもたらす」と誇っています。
Included in this is a plan to connect the territory of Azerbaijan, which is divided by Armenian land, by developing an east-west corridor called the Trump Route. President Trump boasts that this will bring peace and stability to the world.
これに対し、両国と国境を接するイランの外務省は9日、声明を出し、和平に向けた動きは歓迎するとしながらも「トランプ・ルート」をめぐっては「外国の介入による地域の安全や安定を損なう悪影響を懸念する」と表明しました。
In response, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which shares borders with both countries, issued a statement on the 9th, saying that while it welcomes moves toward peace, it also expressed concern regarding the Trump route, stating, We are worried about the negative effects of foreign intervention undermining the safety and stability of the region.
このルートの構想はこれまでもありましたが、イランは、自国とロシアなどを結ぶアルメニアを通る南北の物流ルートを遮断しかねないことから警戒してきました。
There have been previous ideas for this route, but Iran has been wary because it could potentially block the north-south logistics route connecting Iran and Russia via Armenia.
イランは、今回、この構想の実現にアメリカが乗り出してきたことで、イランの封じ込めを図ろうとしているものと捉え、けん制した形です。
Iran sees the fact that the United States has taken steps to realize this initiative as an attempt to contain Iran, and has responded with a warning.
