The former chairman of the Supreme Council, which serves as Ukraines parliament, was shot and killed by an unknown assailant in the western city of Lviv.
警察は現場から逃走した人物の行方を捜査するとともに事件の経緯を調べています。
The police are investigating the whereabouts of the person who fled the scene and are also looking into the circumstances of the incident.
ウクライナ国家警察によりますと30日、ウクライナの議会にあたる最高会議で議長を務めたアンドリー・パルビー氏が西部リビウの路上で何者かに銃撃されその場で死亡したということです。
According to the National Police of Ukraine, on the 30th, Andriy Parubiy, who served as the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraines parliament, was shot and killed on the spot by an unknown assailant on the streets of Lviv in the west of the country.
地元当局によりますと、犯行に関わったとみられる人物は拳銃で8発発砲し、その場から逃走したということで警察が行方を捜査するとともに、事件の経緯を調べています。
According to local authorities, the person believed to be involved in the crime fired eight shots with a handgun and fled the scene. The police are searching for the suspect and investigating the circumstances of the incident.
ウクライナメディアなどは、この人物はフードデリバリーサービスの配達員の格好をして、黒いヘルメットを着用していたと伝えています。
Ukrainian media and others report that this person was dressed as a food delivery service courier and was wearing a black helmet.
パルビー氏はウクライナで2014年に大規模な市民の抗議活動でロシア寄りの政権が崩壊した「マイダン革命」で指導的役割を果たした人物の1人で、2016年から2019年にかけて最高会議の議長を務めました。
Mr. Parubiy was one of the key figures who played a leading role in the Maidan Revolution, a large-scale civilian protest in Ukraine in 2014 that led to the collapse of the pro-Russian government, and he served as the chairman of the Supreme Council from 2016 to 2019.
また、2019年からは反ロシアを掲げるポロシェンコ前大統領が率いる政党「欧州連帯」に所属していました。
Also, since 2019, he has belonged to the party European Solidarity, led by former President Poroshenko, who advocates an anti-Russian stance.
ウクライナでは7月、ロシアに対する無人機を使った攻撃や破壊工作などにも関わったウクライナ保安庁の幹部職員が首都キーウで銃撃されて死亡するなど、要人の殺害が続いています。
In Ukraine, assassinations of key figures have been continuing, such as in July, when a senior official of the Security Service of Ukraine, who was involved in drone attacks and sabotage against Russia, was shot and killed in the capital Kyiv.
