In the midst of the chaos, reports have emerged of public facilities being destroyed in various locations. In Makassar, Sulawesi Island, on the 29th, an incident occurred in which the local assembly building was set on fire, and local media report that at least four people have died.

The Indonesian National Police issued a statement on the 30th, saying, Over the past two days, there have been notable acts of disorder in multiple areas, including arson of buildings and public facilities, assaults, and other acts of destruction.

“These acts are clearly illegal,” and announced a policy of strictly dealing with unlawful conduct.

The presidential office also announced last night that, given the current situation in the country, President Prabowo has canceled his planned visit to China, which was scheduled for September 3rd to attend events such as a military parade.

The Japanese Embassy in Jakarta announced as of 5:00 p.m. Japan time on the 30th that no damage to Japanese nationals or Japanese-affiliated companies has been confirmed, and is urging Japanese residents to refrain from non-essential outings.
