The sale of the Chrome web browsing business, which was sought by the plaintiff in the trial, the Department of Justice, is not included, and for now, the breakup of the business has been avoided.
この裁判は、アメリカの司法省が2020年に、グーグルがインターネット検索などの分野で日本">日本の独占禁止法にあたる反トラスト法に違反した疑いがあるとして訴えたもので、首都ワシントンの連邦地方裁判所は去年8月、独占状態にあると認める判決を出し、会社側は上訴する方針を明らかにしています。
This trial was brought by the U.S. Department of Justice in 2020, alleging that Google may have violated antitrust laws, which are equivalent to Japans Anti-Monopoly Act, in areas such as internet search. In August last year, the Federal District Court in Washington, D.C. issued a ruling recognizing Googles monopoly status, and the company has announced its intention to appeal.
こうした中、裁判所は2日、独占状態の是正に必要な措置を発表し、競合他社を排除し、自社のサービスを強要するような契約を禁止することや、検索などの一部のデータを他社に提供することが盛り込まれています。
In this context, on the 2nd, the court announced measures necessary to correct the state of monopoly, which include prohibiting contracts that exclude competitors and force the use of the company’s own services, as well as requiring the company to provide certain data, such as search data, to other companies.
一方、司法省が求めたネット閲覧ソフト「クローム」事業の売却については、「違法な制限には使われていない」などとして含まれていません。
On the other hand, the Justice Departments request to sell the web browsing software Chrome was not included, as it was stated that it has not been used for illegal restrictions, among other reasons.
会社にとってこの事業は主要な収益源となっている広告分野の要で、事業の分割はひとまず回避された形です。
This business is a key component in the advertising sector, which serves as the main source of revenue for the company, and for now, the division of the business has been avoided.
司法省が今回の判断を受けて上訴するかどうかなど、今後の動向が注目されます。
