Japans major hamburger chain, McDonalds Japan, has announced new measures in response to issues with bulk purchases of set menus with toys for resale and problems with food waste.

They say that on the release date, sales through smartphone apps and delivery services will be suspended.
日本マクドナルドでは先月、全国の店舗で販売したおもちゃ付きのセットメニュー「ハッピーセット」で、一部の客が転売を目的に大量に購入し、注文した食品の放置や廃棄などが確認され、消費者庁は販売方法の改善などの再発防止策を講じるよう要望していました。
Last month at McDonalds Japan, it was confirmed that some customers purchased large quantities of the Happy Meal sets with toys for the purpose of resale, leaving or discarding the ordered food. In response, the Consumer Affairs Agency requested the company to implement measures to prevent recurrence, such as improving sales methods.
こうした中、会社側は9日、新たな対応を発表しました。
In this situation, the company announced new measures on the 9th.
それによりますと、今月12日発売の「ハッピーセット」について、発売日は店頭とドライブスルーでの販売に限定し、スマートフォンのアプリや宅配サービスでの販売を停止するということです。
According to this, the “Happy Set” to be released on the 12th of this month will be sold only at the store counter and drive-thru on the release day, and sales through smartphone apps and delivery services will be suspended.
この日の状況を踏まえて、翌13日以降の対応を検討するとしています。
Taking the situation on this day into account, they are considering how to respond from the 13th onward.
さらに販売するセットの数についても、新たなおもちゃが出始める今月12日から15日と、今月26日から28日の間は1グループあたりの数を制限します。
We will also limit the number of sets sold per group during the periods from the 12th to the 15th of this month, when new toys will be released, and from the 26th to the 28th of this month.
一方、「ハッピーセット」以外の商品は今後もこれまでどおり販売するということです。
On the other hand, products other than the Happy Set will continue to be sold as usual.
日本マクドナルドは「食品の放置や廃棄は容認できず、転売目的での購入などルールやマナーを守れない利用は固くお断りする」としています。
McDonalds Japan states, We cannot tolerate leaving or discarding food, and we strictly refuse any use that does not follow rules and manners, such as purchases for resale purposes.
