The Constitutional Democratic Party will decide on new executive appointments on the 11th.

The appointment of Jun Azumi, who serves as the chairman of the House of Representatives Budget Committee, as the secretary-general—a key position in party management that had been the focus of attention—has been finalized.

The Constitutional Democratic Party is compiling an assessment of the July House of Councillors election, in which it was unable to increase its seats, stating that it must be considered a de facto defeat, and plans to carry out executive appointments on the 11th.

The appointment of Jun Azumi, who serves as the Chairman of the House of Representatives Budget Committee, as Secretary-General—a key position in party management—has been finalized.

Mr. Azumi is a veteran who has been elected ten times, and during the Democratic Party administration, he served as Minister of Finance in the Noda Cabinet, as well as holding positions such as the Constitutional Democratic Partys Diet Affairs Committee Chairman.

In response to becoming a minority ruling party in last years House of Representatives election, I am serving as the Chairperson of the House of Representatives Budget Committee as an opposition party member for the first time in 30 years.

As the party leader, Mr. Noda is believed to be aiming to rebuild the partys strength by appointing Mr. Azumi, who is well-versed in parliamentary strategy and elections, as secretary-general.

Also, Hiroshi Kasa will remain in his position as Chairman of the Diet Affairs Committee.

On the other hand, final adjustments are being made to appoint Seiji Ohsaka, who has experience serving as acting representative, as the new chairman of the Election Strategy Committee.

The new executive appointments will be decided at the joint plenary meeting of both houses to be held in the afternoon of the 11th.
