According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, due to the influence of warm, moist air flowing toward the front, the atmosphere is extremely unstable over a wide area from northern to western Japan, and rain clouds are developing in regions such as Kyushu and Tokai.

Within the one hour before 10:30 a.m., 44 were recorded in Waniura, Tsushima City, Nagasaki Prefecture.

In Hokkaido, there is a risk of a linear rainband forming through the 14th. A low-pressure system along the front is expected to develop and move eastward, passing through northern Japan by the 14th.

For this reason, from northern to western Japan, the atmosphere will remain unstable through the 14th, and there is a risk of very heavy rain accompanied by thunder, which could lead to torrential downpours in some areas.

Especially in Hokkaido, a linear rainband may form and rainfall may increase, sharply raising the risk of disasters: in the Oshima and Hiyama regions from early night on the 13th through the early hours of the 14th, and in the Iburi, Hidaka, Ishikari, Sorachi, and Shiribeshi regions from late night on the 13th through dawn on the 14th.

The amount of rainfall expected in the 24 hours leading up to midday on the 14th is forecast to be as follows in the heaviest areas: 180 millimeters in Hokkaido, 150 millimeters in the Tokai region, and 120 millimeters in the Tohoku, Hokuriku, and Niigata regions.

The Japan Meteorological Agency is urging people to be on alert for landslides, flooding of low-lying areas, rising and overflowing rivers, as well as to pay close attention to strong winds, lightning, violent gusts such as tornadoes, and hail.
