At the Mens Volleyball World Championship being held in the Philippines, Japan lost in straight sets to Canada in their second match of the preliminary round, marking their second consecutive defeat and resulting in their elimination from the tournament.

In the Mens Volleyball World Championship, the 32 participating teams are divided into eight groups of four teams each for the preliminary league, and the top two teams from each group advance to the final tournament.

In the opening match of the group stage, Japan lost to Turkey and dropped to 7th place in the latest world rankings. In their second match, they faced Canada, who are ranked 9th in the world.

In the first set, they struggled against the tall opponents blocks, and after conceding six consecutive points from a 6-6 tie, they found themselves constantly playing catch-up. Captain Yuki Ishikawa and Ran Takahashi, who are key attackers, couldnt find their rhythm, and they lost the set 20-25.

Although we took the lead in the early part of the second set as well, we conceded six consecutive points after leading 10-7, allowing them to come from behind, and lost the set 23-25.

The third set, with no room left to lose, became a close contest thanks to spikes from Tatsunori Otsuka, who replaced Ishikawa from the previous set, and Kento Miyaura, but they lost it 22-25 and were defeated in straight sets, 0-3.

Japan suffered its second consecutive loss and was eliminated before the final group stage match against world No. 75 Libya on the 17th.

Captain Yuki Ishikawa: A very tough result. Captain Yuki Ishikawa said, I thought I had put the loss against Turkey behind me and was ready for this match, but judging by the result, I wasnt able to switch gears.

On top of that, looking ahead to the final match against Libya, he said, We still have one game left, so its about how we approach it.
