A research center has been established at a university in Taiwan to study policies promoted by former Prime Minister Abe of Japan. President Lai Ching-te expressed hope that it would become an important foundation for future cooperation between Taiwan and Japan, showing his expectations for further strengthening relations with Japan.
台湾の政治大学では、21日安倍元総理大臣が推進した外交や経済などの政策を研究する拠点「安倍晋三研究センター」の設立を記念する式典が開かれました。
At Taiwans National Chengchi University, a ceremony was held on the 21st to commemorate the establishment of the Shinzo Abe Research Center, a base for studying diplomatic, economic, and other policies promoted by former Prime Minister Abe.
この中で頼清徳総統は「われわれが敬愛する安倍元総理大臣が亡くなったことは日本のみならず台湾や世界全体の損失だ」と強調し、改めて哀悼の意を表しました。
In this context, President Lai Ching-te emphasized, The passing of former Prime Minister Abe, whom we deeply respect, is a loss not only for Japan but also for Taiwan and the entire world, and once again expressed his condolences.
その上で、研究センターについて「人材育成だけでなく、台湾と日本の将来の協力における重要な基盤になることを望む」と述べ、日本とのさらなる関係強化に期待を示しました。
On top of that, he stated that he hopes the research center will not only foster human resources but also become an important foundation for future cooperation between Taiwan and Japan, expressing his expectation for further strengthening relations with Japan.
式典には日本から安倍元総理大臣の妻の昭恵さんや自民党所属の国会議員なども出席しました。
At the ceremony, attendees included Akie Abe, the wife of former Prime Minister Abe of Japan, as well as members of the Diet from the Liberal Democratic Party.
頼総統は日本との交流を重視しており、副総統だった2022年7月には安倍元総理大臣の弔問のため、外交関係のない日本を訪れています。
President Lai places great importance on exchanges with Japan. In July 2022, when he was vice president, he visited Japan, with which Taiwan has no diplomatic relations, to pay his respects for former Prime Minister Abe.
